One MAJOR Rule For Conversation Flow

This weekend I was a plus one for a wedding by the coast, it reminded me of one MAJOR rule for conversation flow.

As I joined for the evening reception, I was a little anxious to meet new people….

Because of lockdowns, restrictions and being a full-time dad, I’ve not been going out much as I used to.

As some guests had been there for a while, they had the time to warm up, settle and bond.

It took me a bit of time to warm up for the conversation to flow naturally.

Cold start conversations can be awkward and clumsy. You end up talking too fast, hurry to fill silences, fidget while talking etc…

Social conversation awkwardness is at its highest because most of the world has spent too much time in isolation and behind computer screens.

So remember one MAJOR rule of conversations: warm-up your conversation muscle.

How do you do that?

Simple, frequent small talk is the oil that keeps your conversations naturally lubricated.

If you observe most women, they spend a significant time in conversations, connections and chit chat.

In The Female Brain, published in 2006, Louann Brizendine, M.D. claimed that women say about 20,000 words a day, while men say about 7,000.

Feminine men use more words… which is why they can turn women off on first dates!
